April - Arrival
Today
is a day of arrivals. On arrival into Istanbul you will
be met by a local representative and transferred to your
hotel. Today is free until this PM when a “welcome
cocktail” reception will be held on a small Bosphorus
Cruise.
24th
April - Istanbul
This morning we tour the Koc Museum including a retired
Turkish Submarine then we visit the Military Museum where
you will witness a traditional Ottoman Janissary Band Performance
& where your Battlefield Guide will give a dissertation
of the overall "Gallipoli" campaign in the Gallipoli
Room. Afterwards we depart straight for the beaches of Gallipoli.
Following a late dinner and the hand-out of your sleeping
bags we will head straight to the beach where you will overnight.
25th
April - Anzac Day
Today is the Anzac Services, general running will see you
witnessing the Dawn Ceremony at around 0530, then attending
the Lone Pine Ceremony at 0900 and if you are up to it the
Chunuk-Bair service at 1100. Afterward you will be required
to gather and wait until your tour vehicle can take you
safely from the peninsula to your hotel.
26th
April & 27th April - Gallipoli
In-depth Battlefield visits with dissertations by Battlefield
Guides and Turkish Guides at Anzac Cove (the actual landing
beach, not the beach where service was held), Lone Pine,
Chunuk-Bair, Johnstons Jolly, The Nek, Helles, Turkish Memorial
and more. During these two days of exploring the peninsula
you will also visit Kabatepe War Museum where they have
detailed displays of the campaign and well as relics recovered
from the period the fighting took place in during WWI.
28th
April - Troy & Pergamum
After breakfast drive to “Homer's Troy”, and
the site of King Priam's Treasures. Probably the most famous
city of classical times - who doesn't know the story of
the Trojan Horse. After Troy, we enjoy a scenic drive through
Thrace to visit the hauntingly beautiful, ancient city of
Pergamon. We see the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and
the 200,000 volume library, The Asclepieum of Pergamon.
Leaving Pergamon behind us we settle at our hotel in Kusadasi.
29th
April - Ephesus/Kusadasi
Full day tour of Ephesus. We drive to the ancient city of
Ephesus and first visit the Temple of Artemis, one of the
seven wonders of the ancient world. Ephesus was undoubtedly
one of the most important cultural centres of the ancient
world. Impressive structures we will see include the Library
of Celsus, Temple of Hadrian, Theatre and Odeon. We also
visit the House of the Virgin Mary. We stay overnight in
Kusadasi
30th
April - Pamukkale
For those continuing the tour we depart for Pamukkale with
its amazing white calcium rocks & thermal water springs.
This area was once the beauty & health centre of the
famous “Queen Cleopatra”. You will enjoy relaxing
in these hot springs after this unforgettable trip. Dinner
and overnight in Pamukkale.
1st
May - Travelling
After breakfast drive to Antalya to relax in this wonderful
city. Dinner and overnight.
2nd
May - Antalya
This morning, we drive east to see the best preserved ancient
theatre of Turkey - Aspendos, as well as the remains of
the ancient city of Perge, and the Kursunlu Waterfall .
Free afternoon. Dinner in Antalya.
3rd
May - Travelling
Drive to Konya to visit Karatay Medrese (10th C) as well
as Tiles and the Museum of Mevlana (Whirling Dervishes).
Afterwards continue to Cappadocia . Arrival and overnight
in Cappadocia.
4th
May - Cappadocia
This morning you have the chance to take an optional balloon
ride over the surreal landscape of Cappadocia before attending
the day’s touring. Today we take in the highlights
of Cappadocia. The Open Air Museum of Goreme, The Fairy
Chimneys of Pasabagi, Uchisar, the Zelve region, Avanos
and the Underground City of Derinkuyu. Overnight at the
hotel in Cappadocia.
5th
May - Ankara
Following an early breakfast drive to Ankara through Agzikarahan
Ceravanserail. Arrive in Ankara and visit Museum of Anatolian
Civilisations and The Mausoleum of ATATURK (the founder
of Turkish Republic). Overnight in Ankara.
6th
May - Travelling
After breakfast drive to Istanbul through Bolu. Arrival
and free afternoon in Istanbul to explore this magnificent
city on your own. overnight in Istanbul.
7th
May - Travelling
Istanbul, the only city in the world situated on two continents.
Byzantium, Constantinople, Istanbul - its three names span
more than 2600 years, nearly 1600 of them as the capital
of two of the greatest empires the world has known, Byzantine
and Ottoman. We visit the Topkapi Palace including treasury
section, The Blue Mosque and Hippodrome, where chariot races
and the Byzantine riots took place and free time in Grand
bazaar with its 3,500 shops. Farewell dinner and Overnight
in Istanbul.
8th
May - Istanbul
Today we visit some of Istanbul’s less renowned sites
including the Islamic Museum and the Underground Cistern
amongst others before being transferred to the airport for
your departure.
