Pilgrims drink from a spring under the house which is believed to have healing properties and put special wishes at the ''Wishing Wall'' strongly believe they will come true! TOUR 8: Private Selcuk Museum + Isa Bey Mosque + St. John Basilica + Artemission Temple

Drive to Selcuk town, the beginning of whose history dates back to 6000 BC, as an important center of pagan worship in antiquity. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of Ancient World, is the testimony of this pagan times. Christianity was disseminated from Selcuk by St. John and his disciples. The Church of Virgin Mary, The Church of St. John and the Tomb of St. John are important buildings from this period. It is recorded that Apostol Paul and Apostol John stayed and preached in Ephesus! St. John brought Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Christ and that a small house was built for her on Bulbuldagi Mount. Isa Bey Mosque is a significant example of Islamic architecture. We visit the Basilica of St. John, who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel. Right after his death, a small church was build over its tomb, but the presently visible church is cruciform and roled with six massive domes donated in 6th century by Emperor Justinian and his wife Theodora. The church becomes the biggest church of that times. Restoration allows to see its extent and to imagine its beauties. From inside of Basilica of St. John, one can admire the Fortress Walls. This fortress is located on the highest point of thr Ayasuluk Hill and had 15 towers, a mosque and cisterns. Was constructed by Aydin Emirate. Very close to St. John basilica is Isa Bey Mosque. Isa Bey, a member of the ruling family in the district of Aydin, commissioned the architect Ali to built this mosque in 1375 A.D: It is one of the most delicate examples of Seljukian architecture, such as pendants of the domes with the painted tiles, the stalactites of the window moldings with arabesque mofits, coloured Stones and painted tiles, particularly the porcelain mosaics of the South dome. Some columns and architectural elements were used from Artemis Temple.  We also visit the Selcuk Museum founded in 1929, one of the finest museums in Turkey, holds the best of the archeological objects excavated at Ephesus. The objects on display belongs also to all periods of history starting with Mycenean. Few artifacts and finds from some of the many other significant ancient Hellenic, Hellenistic and Roman cities in the region.
