Afternoon transfer to the port of Piraeus for the 7-day “Golden Fleece” Cruise to Turkey and the Greek Isles. Sail forIstanbul at 18:00SATURDAY: ISTANBUL
At 18.00 arrive in Istanbul, one of the world’s greatest historic cities. This city is built on seven green hills and situated astride two continents. East meets West in every way. Evening at leisure. Optional morning and afternoon city tour. Visit the Topkapi Palace with its harem and fabulous treasure chambers, the Sultan Ahmed (Blue) Mosque with its six minarets, the Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent, and St. Sofia, the «church of the sacred wisdom», converted to a mosque. Visit the Hippodrome and the Obelisk brought from Egypt. Overnight on board.
SUNDAY:ISTANBUL - MYKONOS
Istanbul. Full day free at leisure. 18.00 leave for Mykonos.
MONDAY : MYKONOS - PATMOS
At 15:00 call at Mykonos. It combines the dazzling white beauty of a typical Cycladic island with a sophisticated international jet-set atmosphere and a very active night-life. Stroll at leisure through the white-washed, flower-decked alleyways to the sculpture church of Paraportiani or along the water-front of «Little Venice» to the well-known windmills. Evening sail to Patmos at 23:59 .
TUESDAY: PATMOS - KUSADASI ( TURKEY )
At 7:00 in the morning we arrive at this beautiful rocky island where the exiled Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation. We have an optional tour: we drive up to the Monastery St. John the Evangelist where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation where the heavenly voice of God revealed to St. John the future of humanity. Time for browsing. Sail to Kusadasi at 11:00 a.m. At 2:30 p.m. call at Kusadasi, Turkey. Optional excursion to Ephesus. The Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived there for three years. We tour the spectacular ruins. Walk along wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theater. Return to Kusadasi for shopping before sailing for Rhodes at 8:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY : RHODES - HERAKLION
At 7:00 in the morning call at Rhodes. This stronghold was built by a Crusading Order which originated from Palestine. Optional half-day excursion to the Temple of Athena on the majestic Acropolis of Lindos, with the blue Aegean Sea beneath it and the sophisticated, white-washed artists’ colony at its foot. A local tradition held here has the Apostle Paul’s ship arrive in the small harbor. Afternoon free. Stroll in the medieval-walled city, enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere from one of the elegant cafes in the marina. Sail for Heraklion at 6:00 p.m.THURSDAY : HERAKLION CRETE - SANTORINI
At 7:00 a.m. call at Heraklion Crete where we visit (optional) the Minoan Palace of Knossos, legendary home of the Minotaur. Sail to Santorini at 12:00. At 5:00 in the afternoon call at Santorini. Take a mule or the cable car up to the white-washed town of Thera, perched high on the rim of an ancient volcano that erupted about 1600 BC and buried a flourishing Bronze Age town which has now been excavated at Akrotiri. Sail to Pireaus at 9:00 p.m.FRIDAY: PIRAEUS
At 7:00 a.m. arrive at Piraeus. Disembarkation after breakfast.
